March 11, 2017 (day 11)
Meet Haddie and Lottie. Regular shoppers at the farmers market every Saturday. Each week the girls visit the market with their Dad who gives them money to spend. One faithfully visits the bakery stand for her chocolate muffin. Her sister chooses flowers from the flower stand and proceeds home to arrange them on her playroom table. I almost cried the first time I asked their dad about this ritual. Those of you who know me would likely agree that I am th…e muffin girl. I am in awe of the vision of sweet sister choosing her flowers with anticipation, and then looking forward to bringing beauty to her space for the upcoming week. “How special,” I commented, to which their dad replied, “they both ARE! Isn’t it amazing!”
“To thine own self be true” are words I have come to love. And yet it is still something I don’t always do. These girls remind me to be me. Individuality is key. Even as I wipe the chocolate crumbs from my mouth.
Rituals and choices. These are two lovely components to tie into the lives of our kids, and also our own. ( Like BEDTIME) I have no kids at home now and have found rituals to be very important and necessary. What rituals are important in your daily life? Which sister are you??!?
