I honestly cannot believe I have kept this promise I made beginning on March 1st for Lent. We are in the midst of Holy Week, and I am so aware of how I get to move through the same spaces and realize I am different, growing, and also grounded in being me. This has become a new habit. Something I make time for usually at the end of the day. Other things may get put to the wayside, and there have been evenings I have come very close to saying, oh well. Quit. They are only words…and you don’t have anything to say. But what this time has blessed me with is the gift of stillness. Consciously pausing to say, here I am, and what’s on this heart and mind tonight? In the midst of living life. It has been an outlet for humor and grief, questions and light, creativity and an appreciation for being real. What I get to see from this vantage point is that I have a host of amazing people (and their dogs) who’s presence in my life makes it (fill in the blank)! They each have their own unique something that is a gift to me and this world we are living in together. Pilgrimage.Tonight a shout out to one of those special souls who I don’t get to see in person. But we stay connected here. It’s her birthday. And I am grateful she was born. We actually got to reunite after many years when I made my way out to the west coast for my Thunder Road friend’s send off. And I think he would have liked that. This photo is so perfect for the topic of moving through spaces…I sat in her kitchen and by her computer where she has posted so many thoughts, moments, celebrations, and day to day stuff…and to be there in person felt surreal. Like I’d made it to the Oprah chair….(actually, that’s ANOTHER story)…but you get my gist. And regardless of topic or flavor of these musings, there she is. Tapping out just enough for a “hi old friend, do you hear me cheering? See me waving?” As if we’re back in our old college house doing our daily thing. But really a bit older and wiser. And definitely better looking.Love and light to one of the brightest stars. I am eternally grateful for this conduit to you.xo, b
