March 20, 2017 (day 20) and the first day of spring.
In honor of Spring arriving, this postcard/billboard from the archives of the Philadelphia Flower show several years ago. If you have never been, go! I already penciled it in for next year with my dear friend/Pisces sister. It’s a beautiful thing to do in March. Bright colors and gorgeous smells. Inspiration everywhere and quite the artist’s date. Gorgeous shopping too! And I know, no flowers just words recorded here. It …was a British theme…like the underground signs.
And tonight I was ON COURSE for an earlier post and then the phone rang. College student call, which I take because, well, I take those calls when they come. They are infrequent and it’s about quality, not quantity. And then a returned call from another dear friend. Back and forth there…her news, my news. And I circle back here and think. Uncle. I know nothing tonight. And then I remember this. Because even when I feel pretty uneventful, what can I say that’s new….I can say with all of my unknowing: YOU ARE BRILLIANT. For myself and for you. Because we are. And I think of the word brilliant not only related to smart or intelligent, I think of it as a bright and amazing light. Like put your sunglasses on shining directly in your eyes light. “Be a lamp, a lifeboat, or a ladder”, Rumi tells us. Even if only to hold up the mirror for someone to see who they truly are. And that could be someone else, or that someone, you.
And sometimes coming from a knowing nothing place is where knowing something is possible and begins.
